After Florida shooting, Millsboro PD says they’re prepped for an active shooting situation

As the nation still mourns the 17 lives lost in that tragic Florida shooting, one of the questions now being raised is how would our local law enforcement would respond if something similar happened on Delmarva.

Because local matters, 47 ABC spoke to Millsboro Police Department, who says all law enforcement in Delaware are trained for situations just like what happened in Parkland.

All officers go through an active shooter response training called ALERRT, meaning Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training. During the training, officers learn how to respond towards a building occupied by an active shooter, along with learning how to react once they're inside.

If there is an active shooter situation, this puts all the officers on the same page.

We're also told the state has learned from tragedy's like the Columbine shooting to better structure how they would respond to active shooter situations.
