Stand By Me Negocios helps Hispanic entrepreneurs create successful businesses

Creating your own business is a job in itself.

But what if you had to do it in a country where you didn't know the language or didn't know any of the appropriate resources around you? One new program launching this month hopes to help business owners with these exact issues.

Delaware Hispanic Commission's partnership with $tand By Me, a statewide empowerment program, is helping the Hispanic population.

Chairman of Delaware Hispanic Commission, Javier Torrijos says, "Latinos are one of the communities that enjoys starting their own business, we're entrepreneurs. We love to start our own businesses, that's what we do. They face many challenges. One being cultural barrier, also the language barrier, they just don't know how to do their own business here in Delaware."

Instead of creating a new platform, teaming up with $tand By Me is a great way to partner with a successful program and create even more resources for businesses.

This partnership is launching a new program called $tand By Me Negocios, negocios meaning businesses, offering free support for Hispanic business owners. They will have a business coach to help them in every way possible.

The Chair of the Economic Subcommittee for the Hispanic Commission, Givvel Marrero says, "A business usually fails within its first three years and what we're trying to do is with this program is to really support those businesses, so they make that three year mark."

And these coaches will be working as a GPS for Hispanic business owners hoping to achieve that American dream and lead them in the right way.

Right now, they have four bilingual coaches and they are hope to add even more.

As part of the launch, $tand By me Negocios will be hosting their first network event at El Pipil Restaurant in Dover, January 25th from 6:30-8:30. To register, click here

They will also host another event in Sussex County in March.
