Sex offender convicted in 2015 rape of Rehoboth Beach senior

A man will serve a life sentence after he was convicted for his role in the rape of a senior citizen, in Rehoboth Beach.
The Delaware Department of Justice says on December 15, a Superior Court jury found 45-year-old David Elder, of Lewes, guilty of rape first degree, rape second degree, burglary first degree, and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. The charges stem from an incident that happened on December 28, 2015 in Rehoboth Beach.
On that day, Elder went into the home of a 78-year-old woman and raped her while wearing a ski mask. Elder's trial apparently lasted four days.
According to authorities, Elder is already a registered sex offender as a result of a 1993 conviction for unlawful sexual contact second degree, and he was previously declared to be an habitual offender in connection with a conviction for failure to re-register as a sex offender in 2012.
Elder is reportedly facing a mandatory life sentence for the charge of rape first degree. Elder is expected to be sentenced on January 26, 2018.
