Salisbury man convicted in 2016 rape of teen

A man is required to register as a sex offender, after authorities say he was convicted for his role in a 2016 rape, in Salisbury.
The Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County says on Wednesday, 20-year-old Tevin Dennis, of Salisbury, was convicted of rape first degree and related charges. This charges stem from an incident that happened on May 23, 2016 in the area of 218 Newton Street.
On that day, Dennis attacked a 13-year-old girl in a nearby parking lot. The 20-year-old ripped off teen's backpack, pushed her to the ground, and forcefully raped her.
Authorities say sentencing for Dennis was postponed for a presentence investigation. Dennis is required to register as a Tier III sexual offender with a mandatory lifetime registration.
Wicomico County Ad Interim State's Attorney Jamie L. Dykes thanked the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, Detectives Jason Caputo and Anthony Foy, Sr. Assistant State's Attorney Kristen M. Schultz and Assistant State's Attorney Jared Monteiro for their work in the investigation and prosecution of this case.
