Local charity event helps raise money for state’s wounded warriors

Friday night marked 20 years of service to our nation's troops for one local event, Beef and Beer in Ocean Pines, put on by STAR Charities.

Folks pay to get in, participate in auctions, submit donations, and all of that money benefiting wounded soldiers in Maryland.

The event was began by Anna and Carl Foultz two decades ago as a way for Carl, a World War II veteran in the pacific, to continue serving his country in a different capacity.

Though Carl has been gone for six years, but his wife Anna carries on the event.

"We do it every year for the soldiers.  Sometimes it goes to the wounded, sometimes it goes overseas, whatever the need is,"  says Anna Foultz, founder of STAR Charities and oldest active decorated lifetime member of Girl Scouts.  "We work all year long collecting donations and all kind of things.  All of that money goes right to soldiers."

If you wish to help the STAR Charities you can find them online at the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce.
