General Assembly to convene in Annapolis to discuss controversial topics

The Healthy Working Families Act won't be the only controversial topic discussed in Annapolis next week. Another one that is sure to draw debate is the a bill that would take away the parental rights of someone who's been convicted as a rapist. Delegate Sheree Sample-Hughes weighed in on the legislation calling it a priority coming in to the new year
"That is something that has been discussed for a few years and this is where we are desiring to pass this piece of legislation in the state of Maryland and that is the very first piece of legislation that's been on the books right now," said Sample-Hughes
The bill has failed in the past, but Democrats like Sample-Hughes are hopeful this year they will have the support needed to push through the legislation.
