DelDOT: Drivers urged to use caution during upcoming wintry mix

Delaware transportation officials urge drivers to use caution, after they say a wintry mix is expected to move into the area on Monday afternoon.

The Delaware Department of Transportation says on Monday, drivers should be on the lookout for icy areas as a wintry mix with periods of freezing rain and sleet is expected from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in Delaware. Officials say the below freezing conditions combined with the expected precipitation will continue to create icy condition on area roadways. 

DelDOT reports that crews are placing salt and sand on the roads and drivers should adjust their speed levels, and use caution on bridges and overpasses.
