Child-run business finds home at Salisbury Mall

If you stroll through the Salisbury Mall you may notice a new business, started by two brothers not yet old enough to drive.
The business is called East Coast Sweetery, started by siblings Leroy and Jacob Stafford.
The boys, 14-year-old Leroy and 12-year-old Jacob Stafford, started this business a few years back with a cupcake maker they got as a gift. Now they'll be reeling in the dough at their new brick and mortar store.
"I didn't think it would go this far. But yeah, it's pretty amazing," says entrepreneur and co-owner Jacob Stafford.
"It means a lot. We get a lot of support from the locals," says Eric Cahall, co-owner of EC Sweetery. "They really love our food and we're pushing to make it better. But they've given us a lot of love and support so it actually feels really great."
The young entrepreneurs set up shop when they were just 7 and 9, too young to own their own business license.
Mall officials say these small shops are making a big impact in the shopping center.
"It's very exciting to have new tennants in here," says common area coordinator Denise Davis. "Small business is important to all of us, even though we're at a big mall, and have big accounts and small accounts. It's the small accounts that keep us going. EC Sweetery was such a great story with Kari and her two boys."
You can find EC Sweetery at the The Centre at Salisbury, or at their Facebook page.
