UPDATE: Multi-home fire remains under investigation in Slaughter Beach

According to officials, on Tuesday morning, fire companies from both Sussex and Kent County are still on the scene of a multi-home fire that happened in Slaughter Beach.

As of 1:15 AM, on Tuesday, an investigation continues as officials try to determine the cause of a three-home fire the happened on Monday evening.

Kent County Assistant State Fire Marshal Micheal Chionchio says officials  received a call around 7:00 PM Monday night.

Memorial Fire Company and surrounding companies responded to the 300 block of Bay Avenue in Slaughter Beach. Three homes were severely burned and two others were exposed.

Chionchio says that the main culprit for the spread of the fire was due to high winds, but there was some involvement of propane.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is leading in the ongoing investigation.

At least 3 homes are fully engulfed in flames along the 300 block of Bay Avenue in Slaughter Beach

Multiple fire companies across Kent and Sussex County were dispatched just after 7:00 PM to what was initially a 2-alarm fire, now a 4-alarm fire and are currently still on the scene battling the blaze.

There are no reported injuries at this time.
