Traffic Alert: Sandtown Rd. closed after tractor trailer crash in Felton

A road remains closed, after authorities say clean up efforts are underway due to a crash involving a tractor trailer, in Delaware.

Delaware State Police say on Tuesday, just before 6:00 AM, officials responded to a crash involving a tractor trailer that happened on Sandtown Road, in Felton. Troopers say as a result of the crash a tractor trailer lost its load of chickens and caused power outages in the area.

Sandtown Road, between John Hurd Road and Cabin Ridge Road, is currently closed. DSP reports that the roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time as crews clean up the chicken debris.

According to officials, at the time of the crash, power outages were reported in the area, however the status of outages is unknown at this time.

Authorities encourage the public to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.
