Rotary Club of Salisbury donates water well to village in Ghana
Two thousand children die every day from consuming contaminated drinking water. A high percentage of childhood diseases are the result of unsafe water supplies and a local organization is stepping up to help those battling these conditions.
The Rotary Club of Salisbury has donated $3,500 to Lifetime Wells International to dig a second well for a small village in Ghana. Lifetime Wells has dug nearly 1,900 wells in Ghana and Tanzania. The money comes from both the club and a district grant.
The community has to maintain it and manually pump it, but it will provide clean water for the village.
The club is raising money to add another well as early as next year.
On a local level, the Rotary Club brings over $65,000 back into our community annually.
