Representative Schwartzkopf hopes to turn a Delaware State Troop into rehab center

A Delaware Representative has his eyes set on a new rehab center.
But it won't be a new building, instead Speaker of the House Pete Schwartzkopf has plans to transform State Police Troop 7.
That facility is still occupied but state officials and troopers will be moving into a new home soon, which will make the space available.
The speaker, who served as an officer, says the location on coastal highway makes it easy to find and will give recovering addicts another place to launch a second chance.
"It costs a lot less to try to rehab people than it does to incarcerate them. I've seen the dollar signs that go into incarceration versus rehabilitation so I think it's a smart move to," Rep. Schwartzkopf says.
We're told in the past, they put out an offer to place a rehab center in Lewes but the public spoke out against it. Then they tried to move it to another location in Lewes, but that was turned down and now that rehab center sits in Harrington, which is Kent county.
He hopes this time around, they will get this location in Sussex.
We're told the building needs to be remodeled or knocked down. It may take up to two years for Troop 7 to move out.
