Police: Easton meeting arranged on snapchat; teen charged in strong arm robbery

A teen is in custody, after police say he robbed another teen during an agreed meeting to buy a phone, in Easton.
The Easton Police Department says on Tuesday, a 16-year-old girl reported a theft stating that she received a new cell phone and was selling his old phone, in Easton. Police say the teen reported that she made a deal with another 17-year-old through snap chat to buy the phone. The 16-year-old reportedly agree to meet the 17-year-old in an area on East Avenue.
According to the report, the 17-year-old suspect wanted to see that the phone was in working order. At that point, the teen apparently took the phone out of her pocket and the suspect grabbed the phone and ran off.
Easton PD reports that the victim was familiar with the suspect, and they were able to identify and locate him at his home, in Easton. While speaking with the suspect, officers say they noticed in plain view a glass smoking device with marijuana residue inside.
The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with robbery, theft less than $1,000, and possession of marijuana. Authorities say the Department of Juvenile Services were contacted and they requested the suspect be detained. The teen was then taken to a juvenile detention facility in Wicomico County.
