Families gather for a community night of holiday festivities

The St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church in Salisbury played host Wednesday evening to dozens of local families gathered to have a Christmas celebration.

It's part of the Delmar Elite's Annual Christmas Dinner for Local Children and Families, put on by the Eastern Shore Basketball League.

The event, part of Adopt-A-Family, has been growing locally for a few years now.  Families in need are invited to come out to grab a hot meal, take part in activities, see Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and take home a few gifts.

"A lot of people don't understand Christmas is about love and we were able to restore that with some families, and that was the beautiful thing about it," said Marvin Thompson, CEO of Combined Formal Entertainment.
