Community collects donations for family displaced in Hurlock fire

On Christmas, a family in Hurlock lost everything in a fire.

Investigators think the fire was caused by an electrical problem and is being deemed an accident.

But the community is stepping up to help the family in need.

47 ABC spoke to Pamela Usilton, who's sister is the neighbor the family.

She was able to assist the family after the fire.

From there, they realized the four little boys were not wearing any coats or shoes.

And since everything was destroyed in the fire, they decided to collect donations.

They are currently asking the community's help for any clothing items for ages 12, 10, 9, and 5.

Beyond that, they are also accepting toys and gift cards.

The organizer is teaming up with the Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company to collect those donations.

Officials say there's at least $120,000 in damage to the home.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

If you would like to donate, you can contact the organizer at 443-205-5029.
