Cambridge is hoping to bring more foot traffic through New Year’s boat drop

Throughout Delmarva, downtown areas are trying to bring life back to their community. And Cambridge is no exception.
They're using their revitalization efforts to reel in more foot traffic. To do just that, they've come up with a creative way to see more visitors for new years.
On Poplar Street, they are dropping a boat instead of a ball. The boat is 80 feet, which is 20 feet longer than last years.
It's an Eastern Shore Deadrise, which is what waterman use to crab. It'll drop down on a track and even drop crabs just like a boat.
Restaurants are opening up late and they believe something like this will be a great way to support local businesses downtown.
Cambridge says this will be a new tradition for them.
Poplar Street at 10 p.m., just in time for New Years.
