Authorities still looking for answers in local house shooting

"I laid down on the sofa, grabbed the remote control then 'pop, pop, pop'. At first I thought it was a branch falling from the tree hitting the house."
But James Cotton quickly realized it wasn't.
"I hear a big explosion coming from the wall whoosh and I said, 'damn, someone shot the window," explains Cotton.
A close call for Cotton, who was laying just inches from that bullet.
It happened at 5 a.m. Sunday morning and more than 24 hours later there are still a lot of questions for Cotton and investigators.
"Now why they shot this house, I don't know. I have no idea," says Cotton.
Trooper Daniel Tilghman from Maryland State Police tell us, "As far as a motive, we have no motive at this time."
The incident was a shock to the River Road community. Neighbors say it's a very quiet neighborhood, Cotton agrees.
"I've been here 55 years and nothing like that has never happened here before."
Even investigators say there's not a lot of crime here.
"To my knowledge there's not a lot of crime in that area particularly. Occasionally we will get incidents like this happen sporadically throughout the county, although it's not very common,' explains Tpr. Tilghman.
Unfortunately, the only evidence authorities are working with are three bullet casings they collected at the scene and a not so detailed description of what could be the vehicle used.
That's why they need the public's help.
"Members of the public they're often the ones that come forward with information or give us leads to investigate further and often times they do result in the identification of suspects or even sometimes arrests of the suspects."
Maryland State police are asking anyone with information about this shooting to contact them at the Princess Anne Barrack immediately.
