Ways to avoid porch pirates

On Delmarva, and around the country, folks will be heading online this weekend in search of some great deals. But when those packages arrive, can you make sure they will be safe from Porch Pirates.
These buccaneers ride around stalking deliveries, looking to steal them right off of your front porch when they know no one is home.
Law enforcement officials say there are ways to combat this.
You can add signature confirmation to orders, get the packages delivered to your local mail facility or straight to your job.
Another simple idea is to have a neighborhood watch group keep tabs on each others deliveries.
"The best thing people can do is to take advantage of the modern technology that allows people to sign up for notifications via the apps through the shipping companies that will let them know when packages have been delivered. They can see if someone is home and make arrangements to get that inside," said Lt. Tim Robinson with the Wicomico Sheriff's Office.
Robinson went on to say that those who are going to the stores should keep purchases out of plain sight and in the trunk of your car.
