UPDATE: Chicken truck driver charged in Somerset Co. train collision

A chicken truck driver is facing several charges, after authorities say the tractor trailer was hit by a train, in Princess Anne.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office says on Tuesday, around 6:45 PM, 37-year-old Franklin Alberto Baez-Slorian , of Salisbury, was driving a an Amek Poultry tractor trailer on Peggy Neck Road, approaching Route 13, in Somerset County. According to the report, the truck was stopped with the back part of the trailer still on the tracks, where it was then hit by an oncoming train. 

Authorities say Baez-Slorian was charged with four traffic charges including negligence, interfering with transit vehicle, crossing tracks unsafely, stopping within 50 feet of tracks. No injuries were reported in this incident. 

Police report that they remained on the scene for a while due to a clean up crew being required to clean up the chickens.
