Steve Harvey nationwide turkey giveaway helps Delmarva

And speaking of those acts of generosity a  nationally-syndicated radio show is also making sure people right here on Delmarva have the essentials they need to make it a great Thanksgiving this year. 

Today, Froggy 99.9 handed out turkeys to residents as part of the Steve Harvey Turkey giveaway. 

It's a part of the Steve Harvey Show's countrywide effort to give out thousands of turkeys before the holiday gets here. 

Locally, dozens were handed out to listeners in the parking lot of Crown Sports in Eden. 

Station employee, Dave Hovel, says the annual event helps the community and leaves them with a sense of pride. 

"This has become an annual event with Steve Harvey from the goodness of his heart.  You know its a great feeling when you hand the turkey over to somebody especially somebody that really really needs it.You can just see the joy in their eyes. It warms my heart as well." 

According to the station, the turkey giveaway has been going on for about five years.
