Local community gives back to Salisbury Police Department

Personalized thermal tote bags were donated to Salisbury Police Officers on Monday.
The purpose of the donation was to thank officers for their service.
The effort was coordinated by Cristi Witt, an Independent Senior Director of a company called Thirty-One Gifts.
Witt said Thirty-One Gifts revealed that they would be introducing a police icon to their thermal bags back in March, which is where this idea began.
She said she believes officers do not get the respect or recognition that they deserve, so she thought this would be a great opportunity for the local community to demonstrate appreciation for their officers right around the holidays.
Witt said, "Hopefully it would just give them a you know just a little bit of recognition and encouragement and that the community is thinking of them."
The Salisbury Police Officers who received the tote bags appeared to be very excited and grateful of the efforts of Thirty-One gifts.
Danny Parsons, a Police Officer at the Salisbury Police Department said, "Everybody that's been here so far has gotten theirs, they look very excited about it, I think it's a great thing and I think everyone that's going to receive one is going to enjoy it and is going to use it."
Witt said she worked with local schools and the Oak Ridge Baptist Church to make this donation happen.
She said Oak Ridge Baptist church will be hosting another appreciation event for all first responders this Sunday at 9a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
