HALO preps meals for homeless on Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and HALO Ministries is trying to show how thankful they are of their community.

One of their core values is to value people and they're doing just that through their Thanksgiving meal prepping, which took two days. They'll be giving meals with all the stuffings on Thanksgiving.

If it weren't for the community, many of those items may not have been on the menu. Many companies brought in leftover donations, such as the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.

HALO may be empty now, but come Thanksgiving day, it will be filled with love.

They're expecting about 70 people and they have a dozen volunteers.

Besides serving hot meals, HALO hopes to provide a warm family atmosphere.

Their volunteer coordinator, Logan Schevel says, "We’re open to everyone who needs a meal, anyone who just needs a place. So even if your family is out of town or you can’t prepare food for everyone just come on in."

It's not too late to drop off donations. You can take canned food items and bring them anytime tomorrow.

If you'd like to be more hands on and volunteer, you need to call ahead of time so they can put you on the schedule at 410-742-9356.

They will start serving meals tomorrow at 5:00 PM.
