Greenwood man arrested in meth lab bust

Delaware State Police have arrested a Greenwood man after a traffic stop revealed methamphetamine in the car.

On Saturday night, a trooper on patrol between Sussex Highway and Newton Road pulled over a Jeep Cherokee due to an inoperable front headlight and rear tail light. During the traffic stop a search was conducted on the vehicle which revealed .2 grams of methamphetamine as well as equipment and component mixtures of the manufacturing stages of meth along with key ingredients in making the drug.

The drugs were located in the rear of the vehicle with a passenger identified as 35-year-old Jody L. Souva of Greenwood. Souva was transported to Troop 5 where he was charged with Operating a Clandestine Laboratory, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Souva was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court:3, and released on $8,000.00 unsecured bond. The operator of the vehicle was cited for the inoperable headlight and tail light.  The other two passengers inside of the vehicle were not charged.

Detectives, along with the assistance of DNREC, responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
