Clippers fall in double OT in regional championship

The James M. Bennett Clippers fell in the 3A East regional final game to Centennial 4-3 in 2 overtime periods on Tuesday night.

Tied at 1-1 at the half, Bennett would break thru midway thru the second off an Aiden Kelly goal. Centennial turned a 2-1 defecit, into a 3-2 lead in a matter of 5 minutes, getting back to back goals from Nick Haskins and Matt Merkey.

The Clippers would even the game up when Conner Ains was taken down in the box by Centennial defenders. Aidan Kelly nailed a penalty kick with less than 5 minutes remaining to knot things at 3-3.

Hamzah Elhabashy would knot the game-winning 'golden' goal in the second overtime to send the Eagles to the state semifinals.
