City dedicates weekend to veterans

Rehoboth beach is taking extra steps to honor its veterans later this month with the announcement from Mayor Paul Kuhns proclaiming November 9th through the 12th as Inaugural Veterans Appreciation Weekend.

The weekend kicks off with a book signing by veteran and author Craig Gossi.  The big event will happen the morning of Veterans Day morning at the bandstand hosted by the VFW. 

Local businesses will also get in on the festivities by offering a number of specials throughout the weekend.

Rehoboth commissioners say the weekend serves as a mechanism to bring together the large veteran community in the Rehoboth area.

"This was something that we hadn't done before here in Rehoboth Beach," said Lisa Schlosser, Rehoboth commissioner.  "Although we have a lot of our shops and a lot of the community here does support and is comprised of veterans, so it just seemed like a logical fit for our new administration, our new mayor, to help us again bring together the community and honor all those who serve."
