Black Friday deal leads to adoption frenzy

Hundreds of dogs and cats are settling into their new homes thanks to Brandywine Valley SPCA's decision to waive all adoption fee's Thanksgiving weekend.

217 dogs and cats and one rabbit were all adopted throughout the weekend, that's triple the amount of adoptions than last weekend.

Adoption counselor's say events such as this help BVSPCA shelters run smoothly.

Debra Miller, an Adoption Counselor at BVSPCA's Georgetown location said, "Events like this allow us to adopt animals that maybe would be here a little bit longer than normal and it gives people an opportunity to find a pet and of course in doing that, it clears the shelter for us and then we can bring more dogs and cats into the shelter."

The Brandywine Valley SPCA said they still have lots of animals ready for adoption.
