Traffic shift comes to Salisbury bypass

Maryland State Highway officials are asking drivers to stay alert as more changes are coming to the Salisbury bypass.

Starting early Friday morning, SHA will direct southbound traffic across the median and onto the left lane of the northbound bypass. The new pattern will remain in place until May of next year.

This change is due to a construction project that that is looking extend the life of eleven bridges.So far six of them have been completed.

During this time,  SHA is asking motorists to respect the speed limits keep your eyes on the road.

"Right around the Route 50 interchange we have an exit to go to Ocean City, route 50 east, we want motorists to pay a lot of attention, have no distractions while you're driving through  this area," says Bob Rager, the MD SHA spokesperson.

SHA says the project is still on schedule, and is expected to be completed by June of 2018.
