Pocomoke scores four unanswered to down Parkside

After going down 1-0, the Pocomoke Warriors field hockey team scored four unanswered goals topple the Parkside Rams 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Salisbury.

Kaitlyn Morris got the Rams on the board with 10:29 left in the first half, when she got a stick on a long pass inside from a penalty corner. Coming into the game, Pocomoke had posted 4 straight shutouts, and had not trailed since September 21st. The last time the Warriors found themselves trailing, they fell 5-0 to Kent Island. The lead however would not last long as Pocomoke's McKenzie Mitchell answered back exactly one minute later, scoring on the team's first drawn penalty corner.

"I have to say, it's a huge accomplishment. It's something that we've been able to concentrate our efforts on," said Pocomoke head coach Brandi Castaneda." Being able to come back when your down, it's not easy in any sport, at any moment. But I'm really proud that they we're able to come back and put the pieces back together." The Warriors would take their first lead a couple minutes later, when Cristen Quillen made them 2-2 scoring off penalty corners.

After they attained the lead, Pocomoke never looked back, outscoring Parkside 2-0 in the second half. They got another goal from Mitchell, and the final score of the game from Julianna Holland.

The win improved Pocomoke to 8-2 (on the season, and handed Parkside (6-3) their first loss in the Bayside South this season. The Warriors now remains the lone team undefeated in the division.
