Planning and Zoning Commission withdraws controversial ordinance

Hudson Fields scored a big win Thursday in Georgetown at the Planning and Zoning Commission's public hearing.
We have learned that the commission has decided to vote unanimously, 5-0, to withdraw the special event ordinance that had stirred up controversy in recent weeks, sighting a need for more public input.
Christian Hudson with Hudson Management tells 47ABC dozens rose to speak out against the ordinance, with a few defending it.
A petition with about 1,900 signatures was also brought forth to protest the ordinance.
"It was overwhelming public outcry that this was going to shut down our non-profit, and charity world, and venues, and caterers, and just the whole quality of life was going to be effected in Sussex County the way this ordinance was written, and it got shot down five to nothing," said Hudson.
This vote is not the end of the conversation, County Council can still decide to overrule the commission at their next hearing in November.
