Officials: Assateague horse struck and killed; incident under investigation

Officials say that a horse was struck and killed on Thursday evening, in Worcester County.
According to the Assateague National Seashore, rangers responded to MD Route 611, around 8:00 PM, after a 70-year-old woman driving a 2005 Honda Element, hit 18-year-old Jester, who was standing in the roadway.
Officials say that Jester was pronounced dead upon rangers arrival while the woman was not injured. Officials also say that the woman was unable to avoid Jester.
The road reportedly remained open after the collision, and the incident is under investigation.
