Mardela Springs crash leads to DUI charges for Salisbury man

A man is facing multiple charges including identity theft and DUI, after police say he was involved in a crash, in Wicomico County.
Maryland State Police say on Thursday, around 2:15 AM, troopers were dispatched to a crash in the front yard of a home on Main Street, in Mardela Springs. Once on scene, authorities say the driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle, 31-year-old Jeremy Johnson, of Salisbury, was still inside the 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and speaking to EMS personnel. The trooper believed that Johnson was possibly impaired by alcohol.
According to the report, after Johnson refused medical treatment, he performed field sobriety test and was arrested. During the arrest, law enforcement reports that Johnson resisted arrest and punched a trooper in the face before being placed in handcuffs. During processing, MSP learned that Johnson initially provided a false name. After providing the correct name, authorities say it was discovered that Johnson had a parole retake warrant.
Johnson was charged with second degree assault, resisting arrest, identity theft, obstructing and hindering, parole retake warrant, driving without a license and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center to go before a court commissioner.
