Local Seaford man hosting hurricane relief event at Roadie Joe’s for Puerto Rico

Two weeks ago, 47 ABC spoke to a Seaford man, Hector Ortiz, who was trying to assist his family and loved ones.

We are told his efforts have come a long way.

Ortiz has been collecting donations and sending small care packages to the island.

They've already sent out 22 care packages. He was able to partner with Andrew's Air Force Base and they were able to take fly over 25 pounds of their donations.

Those donations were handed to Puerto Rico's National Guard to distribute. But his efforts aren't done just yet.

Tomorrow, he's partnering up with Roadie Joe's in Salisbury to host a hurricane relief event.

If you bring any donations, you will get 10% off your bill.

From 4-9, Roadie Joe's will be collecting water and food. But the biggest thing they are asking for is batteries, AA batteries specifically.

It's a big need for flashlights since there's still no electricity for some.

They are hoping for everyone to come out because this is their biggest effort yet.

"From now what we're trying to do is this is our last effort to collect as many donations as we can before we pack our bags and help the people of Puerto Rico," Ortiz tells 47 ABC.

Ortiz will actually be heading to Puerto Rico on October 30th to hand deliver all these donations for those in need.
