Lighting the river
As we close in on the end of October, we also are coming to the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But the group Women Supporting Women are making sure people realize that, though the month is gone, the battle continues.
Dozens turned out to the light the Wicomico River with lanterns, remembering those who lost their battles, while supporting those who continue their fight.
Kerri Bunting, event coordinator with Women Supporting Women, says this is an event that emphasizes the emotional component of battling breast cancer that sometimes gets lost.
"We still have new patients diagnosed every single day. Women Supporting Women still needs support in order to provide free services to our community members all year long. But this is a way to remember those who we have lost and those who are still fighting the good fight."
