Indian River volleyball comes from depths, takes down Delmarva Christian to stay unbeaten

The Indian River volleyball team moved to 8-0 on the season after dramatically knocking off previously unbeaten Delmarva Christian 3-2 in a 5-set thriller in Dagsboro on Tuesday.

The Royals (8-1) took a commanding 2 games to none lead after winning the first set 25-21, and the second 25-18. The beginning of the third would prove to be the difference for IR. The Indians would find their footing in front of the net and take a 16-9 lead, before ultimately taking the third set 25-12. The Indians began to step up their defense and get some kills to go down to force a fifth set, winning the fourth 25-21.

In the final set, the Indians would see their 2-0 led grow to 9-5. After going up 14-9, a volley from the Royals did not make it inside the line, giving the Indians their 3rd straight game win with a 15-9 win. Rachel Ellers had a game-high 27 kills and McKenzie Johnson had a game-high 41 assists for IR in the win. For Delmarva Christian, Olivia Berger had 30 assists.
