Ice skating rink coming to Winter Wonderland in Salisbury for Thanksgiving weekend

Halloween is less than a week away and soon as those decorations go away, it'll be time for the holiday season, as decorations go up sooner and sooner each year.

In Salisbury, they're already getting ready by preparing to add something new to their annual Winter Wonderland.

A ice skating rink that will open after Thanksgiving.

Earlier today, they were leveling the grass.

From there they will build the sub floor and when the event gets closer, they will insert the artificial rink.

This is all being done through a partnership among Wyatt's Warriors, City of Salisbury, and the Greater Salisbury Committee.

The organization took over Winter Wonderland last year to continue to give back to the community.

Founder of Wyatt's Warriors, Jen Shipe says, "We decided that we wanted to add to it and leave our mark, leave Wyatt's Warriors mark on winter wonderland. We’ve been working hard ever since last year in order to make this happen, I just can’t believe we’re weeks out to finally seeing it come to fruition."

Pohanka  is also helping out by donating the money to rent the ice skating rink.

The rink officially opens the Saturday following Thanksgiving when the city kicks off their Winter Wonderland with a lighting ceremony.

We're told you can rent skates for $5 for 20 minutes.

Beyond that, something else you can see there, the addition of a 50-foot Christmas tree.
