Firearms now prohibited in Sussex County buildings

After public commentary Tuesday, Sussec County council members voted unanimously to prohibit firearms in county buildings.
That means a metal detector will be put in county buildings to detect firearms.
In response to questions about the move the county said simply "Since the world has changed, [they] must change with it."
"This ordinance will allow to screen for and prohibit firearms specifically unless an individual is qualified by the state to carry a firearm," says County Manager Todd Lawson.
County officials say there were concerns about safety at the three county-owned libraries.
In discussions with 47 ABC those same officials say that this ordinance should be the solution to those concerns.
