Del. man arrested after drug investigation in Frankford

A Delaware man was arrested, after police say they concluded a month-long drug investigation, in Frankford.
Delaware State Police say on Monday, the Sussex County Drug Unit was assisted by the Sussex County Governor's Task Force in ending a month-long heroin investigation of 41-year-old Karmikus Smith, of Millsboro, in Frankford. Authorities reportedly received information about Smith distributing heroin throughout Sussex County.
According to the report, troopers pulled over Smith's GMC Yukon on Frankford School Road. Smith and a 58-year-old passenger were apparently taken into custody without incident. After receiving a search warrant for the vehicle, DSP says they found 1,092 bags(7.64 grams) of heroin and over $500 in suspected drug proceeds.
Smith was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity (heroin), possession with intent to deliver heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later turned over to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $61,000 cash bond.
Authorities say the 58-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on a unsecured bond.
