Choptank seeks rate increase in Maryland

Company officials say a local electric company is seeking a rate increase, in Maryland.
47ABC reached out to Choptank Electric Cooperative, Inc. on Tuesday, in reference to the company reportedly seeking a rate increase in the state of Maryland. The following statement was received from the company:
"Choptank Electric Cooperative, Inc. has filed an application to revise its rates and charges for electric service, resulting in a 6.56% overall increase to revenues, at the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC). If approved by the PSC as filed, a residential member using 1,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) per month will see an increase of $9.10 per month."
