Checking in on the 31 neglected Seaford dogs

It's one of the worst animal neglect cases SPCA has ever seen and we are learning that the 31 dogs rescued from the Seaford property are still undergoing intense treatment.

Late last week the Delaware Office of Animal Welfare arrested Donald Eilander. He is facing 449 charges, including felony animal cruelty.

Meanwhile these dogs are currently being checked Thursday in hopes that a few might be ready for adoption soon.

"The older dogs are struggling a little bit more because of the impact and some of the dogs were more emaciated than others. All the dogs right now are going through a medical evaluation, which happens fairly often considering their condition. Evaluating them now in hopes that some maybe available for adoption this weekend," says Linda Forelli, of Brandywine Valley SPCA.

And to pay for the intense care of these dogs, SPCA has asked for the public's help. They say they need $20,000 to treat the K-9's and fortunately they are halfway there.
