4th annual Iron Man Race brings increased business to Cambridge

Cambridge's fourth annual Iron Man is taking place this weekend! The race is bringing thousands of people from all over the country into the ordinarily quiet colonial town.
Due to the high volume of people coming to town this weekend, local businesses will be seeing an increase in profits.
Cambridge officials said Iron Man participants will be spending money on things like hotels, house rentals, restaurants, retail and more while they're in town.'
Bill Christopher, the Executive Director of the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, said, "They come into town and they spend quite a bit! There was a study done by Beacon – the University of Salisbury – Salisbury University that said they spend about five million dollars while they're here in the community."
Following the Iron Man race, there will be an oyster festival in downtown Cambridge on Sunday. Dorchester officials are encouraging people to make it out to this weekends Iron Man events.
