Town of Dewey Beach will stop paying for Town Manager’s legal fees

The Town of Dewey Beach will apparently stop paying legal fees for its Town Manager who is facing over 20 lawsuits for allegations of crude behavior and discrimination, in Dewey Beach.

Officials with the Town of Dewey Beach say on Tuesday, the town will stop paying the Town Manager Marc Applebaum's legal fees. The embroiled Town Manager apparently has more than 20 complaints against him alleging crude behavior and even racial discrimination, and is currently facing a lawsuit filed by several town employees. According to officials, Applebaum is still in office and town commissioners elected to let him stay on while they reviewed all of the allegations.

The lawyer for the town employees, Richard Cross, reportedly objected saying for the town to pay,  they needed to know Applebaum acted in the best interests of the town. Cross tells 47 ABC a hearing was set for this afternoon to review the situation, but was cancelled when the town flip flopped and decided to stop paying.

As for a timeline on reviewing the allegations against Applebaum, officials have not yet said when they will have an answer.
