The effects of Hurricane Irma on Delmarva

There has been a lot of speculation over the past several days on what impacts Hurricane Irma will have on Delmarva. Luckily for us, the worst of the storm will move over Florida. Irma is expected to make landfall in southern Florida Sunday morning and head north across the entire state. It will gradually weaken to a tropical depression in northern Georgia.

Hurricane Warnings are posted for The Bahamas and southern Florida. Hurricane Watches were recently put in effect for areas as far north as Daytona Beach.

Here on Delmarva, we won’t be seeing much from Hurricane Irma. Beautiful weather is in store for the weekend. Starting on Tuesday is when we’ll start to see the remnants of Irma. Clouds will increase Tuesday with periods of rain and breezy conditions Tuesday night. Rain will taper to scattered showers and storms Wednesday. Minor to moderate tidal flooding is also possible. Overall, Delmarva will only see minimal impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Irma.
