Sussex County gets Digital Wills

Sussex County officials are getting tech-savvy when it comes to record keeping.
The Register of Wills office has just rolled out a new system allowing all wills to be accessed electronically.
Officials say the project took almost five years to complete.
About 45,000 records are now in the database and can be accessed in the office by the general public.
Some people in the legal community will be able to tap into the system remotely.
Register of Wills, Cynthia Green, says the upgrade was necessary.
"It was an attempt to.save and preserve the records they were all in paper form and there was concern that if there was a fire or water damage that these records could be destroyed without a backup."
All wills from 1956 forward are now part of the system.
Green says her office is only required to have 60 years worth of records for title search purposes.
