Selbyville library celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15th marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month

This month is observed throughout the U.S., and taking part of these festivities is the Selbyville Public Library.

Folks at the library were joined by Miss Hispanic Delaware 2017 who  say the purpose of the celebration is expose residents to traditional, music, and arts.

An interesting fact about this nationwide celebration is that it does not align with a month on the calendar, it goes from September 15th to October 15th. The reason for that  is because September 15th is the independence day for many countries such as Costa Rica,  Guatemala, and Honduras.

"We thought it was a nice opportunity  to bring the community together and  just share a meal or spend time with their family," says Kelly Kline, the Library Director.
