Seaford man convicted of murder in 2014 home invasion robbery

A Seaford man will be sentenced later this year, after being convicted on multiple charges including murder, organized crime and racketeering, and robbery, in Delaware.
Officials with the Delaware Attorney General's Office say on Friday, 37-year-old Steven Kellam, the leader of a violent crime network that operated in Sussex and Kent counties, was convicted on several felony charges including two counts of Murder First Degree. The Seaford man was convicted on charges of two counts of murder first degree, one count of organized crime and racketeering, 27 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of conspiracy second degree, one count of conspiracy first degree, three counts of home invasion, two counts of robbery first degree, two counts of assault second degree, one count of assault third degree, two counts of attempted robbery first degree, and one count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony
In addition to several other crimes, Kellam along with Richard Robinson, Rhamir Waples, Shamir Stratton, and Carlton Gibbs were found to be involved in a January 2014 home invasion robbery, on Harmon's Hill Road, in Millsboro, which resulted in the shooting death of Cletis Nelson and William Hopkins. In the summer of 2015, a joint investigation by the Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Justice, known as Operation "In the House", brought down the criminal enterprise. In December 2016, both Robinson and Stratton pleaded guilty to their roles in the 2014 incident. Waples was convicted by a jury in March 2017 for his role in the home invasion. Gibbs pleaded guilty to robbery second degree in May 2017. Kellam was the final person to be convicted in the 2014 incident.
According to officials, Kellam is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison when sentenced later this year.
