Rams, Seahawks battle to draw in wild back and forth affair

The Parkside Rams and Stephen Decatur Seahawks boys soccer teams walked away with a similar score, and a similar feeling on Thursday night, a feeling that one got away. The Rams and Seahawks played to a 2-2 draw after two overtimes in Berlin.

Parkside senior Horacio Bonola opened up the scoring in the 11th minute, when his penalty kick found the back of the net. For the next 64 minutes, the Rams would control the action, the pace, and the shots. That all changed with about 5 minutes left in regulation. Decatur would break thru in the 75th minute, when a long shot would slip thru Parkside keeper Sam Burbage's arms and find the foot of Decatur junior Jordan McGee.

With the game tied, Decatur would get aggressive, and eventually find the back of the net again. Ryan Duncan would send a perfect thru ball thru the box, and Brady Ford would give the Seahawks their first lead of the game, with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game.

After successfully battling off a number of charges by the Rams, Decatur would have to stand once more, when Parkside lined up for one final throw-in with 9 seconds left in regulation. The ball would glide off the hands of Jerad Monar and off the head of Kade Johnson with 3.9 seconds remaining on the clock.

The teams would each get off a couple great shots in the first and second overtimes, eventually playing to a 100 minute draw.
