Police: Suspect responsible for robberies and thefts in Salisbury

Police say that a suspect robbed and stole from three different places in Salisbury last Friday.

According to Salisbury Police, at 5:00 PM on Friday, a suspect entered the Family Dollar on South Salisbury Boulevard and pretended to shop while a female clerk was attending to customers. The suspect then ran around the counter and approached the clerk.

The suspect reportedly produced a knife and made slashing motions at the clerk while the clerk was trying to defend herself. Police say the suspect then reached into the register, grabbed cash and fled the scene.

The clerk was treated for non life threatening injuries. When detectives got to the scene, they were able to collect evidence. A K-9 from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene, but the K-9 did not find any more evidence.

A short time later, police received a report of an armed robbery at Tiger Mart on Spring Hill Avenue. Detectives met with a clerk where they learned that the clerk was approached from behind. The suspect allegedly threatened the clerk, but he did not produce a handgun.

Police say that the suspect then took money from the register and ran away. Police were not able to find any more evidence at that scene and police say that the clerk was uninjured.

Minutes later, police responded to Camden Court for the report of a burglary. Several items within a home had reportedly been stolen, according to a victim. The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Steven Nichols for the robberies and the theft. An arrest warrant has been issued for the thefts, but an arrest warrant for the theft is still pending.

Police are working to take Nichols into custody. Anyone with information is asked to call Salisbury Police at 410-548-3165.
