Police: Dover man arrested for leading officers on a chase in a stolen car through Kent Co.

Police say that they have arrested a Dover man after he led officers on a chase throughout Kent County on Wednesday morning.
According to Delaware State Police, around 12:56 AM on Wednesday morning, a trooper on patrol in the Camden area saw a vehicle without its headlights on. The trooper turned around to try and stop the vehicle, but the vehicle began northbound on Main Street in Camden. Upon reaching South DuPont Highway (US 13), the vehicle reportedly continued northbound in the southbound lanes.
Police say that the vehicle then made a U-turn through the center median and briefly began traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of US 13 before crossing back into the southbound lanes near West Lebanon Road (SR 10.)
The vehicle, which was later reportedly found to be a black 2011 Lincoln MKZ, reportedly continued southbound into Harrington and then turned eastbound on Milford-Harrington Highway (SR 14) and into Milford where it eventually drove northbound on North DuPont Boulevard (US 113.)
Milford Police officers reportedly helped with the chase by deploying stop sticks which eventually brought the SUV to a stop when it pulled into the Travellers Inn on North Walnut Street. Upon stopping, the suspect reportedly continued to try and run away by placing the Lincoln in reverse and running into a state police patrol vehicle that was helping with the capture.
18-year-old Gary Ward of Dover was taken into custody after a brief struggle and transported back to Troop three in Camden. He was charged with two counts of failure to stop at the command of a police officer, second degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, reckless driving, driving without a valid license and multiple other traffic related offenses.
He was also arrested by Dover Police for theft of a motor vehicle after it was found that the vehicle Ward was driving was reported stolen earlier that evening in Dover.
Ward was arraigned at J.P. seven and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $2,018 secured bond.
