New North Georgetown Elementary School library

Georgetown ribbon cutting

North Georgetown Elementary School in Delaware is taking steps to instill a love of reading in their students with a renovated library.

The school recently renovated the library with the help of donations from the community as well as from school based funding.

The school says the project was inspired by their partnership with United Way, a nonprofit organization.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the elementary school Thursday to celebrate the project.

Heather Cramer, the North Georgetown Principal, said, “The difference will be is they will have a place to go where reading is alive, so no longer is the library just about computers and things like that, it’s about books and reading and building literacy and the love for reading.”

The project took about three months to build with construction ending just yesterday.

School staff said they are looking forward to seeing the excited reactions of their students on the first day of school.
