Milford man arrested after reportedly assaulting and imprisoning woman

A man is facing multiple charges, after police say he assaulted a woman and held her against her will, in Milford.
The Milford Police Department says on Tuesday, officers responded to a home, in the 600 block of northwest Front Street (SR 14), for a reported assault. According to the report, around 10:00 PM, 30-year-old Joel Weche, of Milford, assaulted a woman after being involved in a verbal argument with her. Weche then reportedly kept the victim from leaving the area and did not allow her to call anyone for help.
According to police, Weche was taken into custody on Wednesday. Weche is charged with strangulation, unlawful imprisonment first degree, assault third degree, and terroristic threatening.
He was later turned over to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,000 secured bail. A preliminary hearing for this case is scheduled for September 22 at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
